Scorefest: Malvern wins 67-58 over Lakeside

For the first time in a long time, Malvern beats Lakeside on their own field. With a very high scoring game, Malvern approaches 70 points to win their first game of the season. The final score was 67-58 and it is now being called a “scorefest.”
White clouds filled the stands as students shook baby powder all over the place. A Ram was thrown into a referee. Lots of injuries took place on the field and among all the chaos, the Leopards pulled out a win against 5A Lakeside.
With next week being the beginning of conference, Malvern needed a win to boost morale.
Malvern won the coin toss and received the ball in this game that is a “reviving rivalry.”
The two teams got right to work and got into the end zone. The Rams led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.
Lakeside started off the second quater with a touchdown and is followed up with a rebuttal by Malvern. The score is brought to 20-15. The Leopards would trail the whole first half of the game with the score being left at 28-22 at halftime.
During the third quarter, Malvern shifted the tide and took the lead. The Leopards scored three touchdowns in just the third quarter, but also allowed many points. At the end of the third quarter, Malvern had a 10 point lead at 52 points.
Malvern would allow two more touchdowns and a two point conversion, but remained on top ending the game with 67 points.
The Leopards use their first win of the season to pump them up for Bauxite in week four. The Miners will be the first conference game this fall and kickoff is at Bauxite High School on Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
