Marketing Board to meet and tour facilities at Springdale

The Arkansas State Marketing Board for Recyclables will meet June 19, 2015, at Ecotech Consumer Products, 603 N. Monitor Rd, Springdale, beginning at 9 a.m. After the meeting the board will tour the Ecotech facility, which recycles materials into resin pellets for shipment to another plant in California for use in manufacturing various plastic products.

The board will hear a report from Randell Shelton, managing partner of Shingle Resource Recycling of Springdale on his company’s operations. In addition, Don Curran, facility manager for Virco Manufacturing at Conway, will give an update on the use of recycled shingles in road paving materials. Also on the agenda is a report by Vance Brock, owner of Northwest Rags in Springdale on collection of old clothing for re-use or conversion into cleaning rags.

The day before the meeting, Thursday, June 18, the board will tour the Pratt & Whitney aircraft engine parts manufacturing plant, 275 E. Robinson Ave., Springdale, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The Marketing Board advises and assists the ADEQ with finding and maintaining markets for recyclable materials collected in Arkansas.
