Hearing set on company's permit renewal modification

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) will hold a public hearing on June 23, 2015 on a proposal to renew and modify the air permit for Georgia-Pacific Chemicals at 124 Paper Mill Road, Crossett.
The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Municipal Auditorium, 1100 Main Street, Crossett. ADEQ employees will be available to informally discuss the draft permit. In addition, a hearing officer will accept formal public comments. Verbal comments will be accepted, but written comments are preferred in the interest of accuracy.
The facility has submitted applications to renew and modify the facility’s existing permit. The modification includes replacing the regenerative thermal oxidizer, the removal of several emission sources, the inclusion of new sources: haul roads, equipment leaks, cooling towers, methyl methacrylate fugitive emissions, and a non-bulk packaging system, the grouping of storage tanks, the revision of emission calculations, and the evaluation of hazardous air pollutants.
The department has reviewed the application and tentatively approved it.

During the public comment period, any person may mail written comments to the ADEQ Air Permits Branch at the above address or email comments to airpermits@adeq.state.ar.us. The public comment period began April 19, 2015 and expires at 4:30 p.m. Central Time on June 5, 2015. However, additional comments will be accepted at the public hearing. No additional comments will be accepted after the adjournment of the hearing.
