Body found at Rockport

Staff Writer

An employee from the fireworks by Chili Peppers found a badly decomposed human body on Monday afternoon, according to Rockport Police Chief Brandon Thomason. Thomason said the employee was chasing after some paper that had blown out of his/her hand and came upon the body. “From articles found around the body, it appears that it may have been a transient,” Thomason said, “but we really don’t know anything at this point.”
The investigation is being treated as a homicide at this point and has been turned over to the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division, according to Thomason. “It will take some time. The body has to be turned over to the state medical examiner’s office for identification and further investigation,” he said.
