Roman Reigns will go down in history as the most hated wrestler of all time
Not too long ago, I wrote that Wrestlemania would be the best in years. Now WWE Creative has apparently decided to put Roman Reigns against The Undertaker at Wrestlemania this year.
….Aaaand it’s ruined.
I actually made a video right after RAW last night, but I was so angry I’m not going to post it. It’s not even funny angry, it would just be uncomfortable to watch.
I’ve written at length about my problems with Roman Reigns, so I’ll just go over it briefly. He’s a Gary Sue, a boring invincible super-hero type who’s being shoved down our throats. A talentless pretty boy who keeps being put in the spotlight at the expense of wrestlers who are skilled enough to deserve it.
It was bad enough that they let him win clean against Braun Strowman at Fastlane. My problem with that was mostly the timing, they were building Strowman up to be a monster heel. But a match against The Undertaker at Wrestlemania is something sacred and the fact that Undertaker’s undefeated streak has already been broken does nothing to soothe the outrage of knowing that Roman Reigns is probably going to win.
Even if Reigns doesn’t win, fans are never going to forgive him just for even facing The Undertaker at Wrestlemania, with winning as a possibility. As of Monday, March 6, all hope of Roman Reigns getting over with the fans is gone forever.
We still have SMACKDOWN, which is doing very well. After the brand split, WWE has shown that the producers are finally starting to get it. There are some wrestlers we like and there are some wrestlers that Vince McMahon likes, but the fans aren’t going to accept Roman Reigns winning the 2015 Royal Rumble instead of Daniel Bryan just because the kids buy Reigns’ toys.
I love SMACKDOWN. This show is still doing everything right. Even though I wanted Luke Harper to win the title shot instead of AJ Styles, I can’t really argue with that because Styles is great. (Although it may end up being Randy Orton after all, and Orton is also great.) And my favorite wrestler of all time is finally getting the break he deserves after standing in line behind Reigns for three years. Bray Wyatt has the belt and he’s defending it on the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania.
And this huge moment in Bray Wyatt’s career is going to be overshadowed by a Roman Reigns match.
